Shopping local is probably more important now than it’s ever been, and we’re lucky to live in an area where shopping local is everywhere. Yes, we’re advocating that shopping can be considered a sustainable practice – if done thoughtfully. And Colorado has some of the best farmers markets that the country has to offer.
When you shop at local farmers markets, not only are you getting the freshest produce, you’re also reducing the impact of the transportation involved. You’re supporting local farmers and artisans. You’re supporting the community simply by staying in the community.
Here are a few of our favorite farmers markets from our local communities.
If you need something while you’re in the area, stop by one of our local branches and even pick up a reusable tote for your trip to the market. Where other than the farmers market do you shop locally? Tell us where else to go at Garrett Chappell (GChappell@pmcu.org).
